OUR HISTORY

“Driven by passion that creates the wine from the land we love – cool climate fine wine that caresses the nose, excites the palate and touches the soul” – John Tomich

Some of Australia’s finest cool climate wine is produced from the Adelaide Hills, a mere 35 minute drive east of Adelaide, South Australia. That is why John and Vicki Tomich together with their three sons Randal, Damian and Sam selected this stunning region for the establishment of their vineyard. Nestled along the Onkaparinga River, the vineyard is just north of the township of Woodside in the “Hills”– a region well known for producing fruit with elegant, vibrant and fresh varietal flavours.

The family has a farming history spanning three generations. Today, their philosophy is that of ‘giving more back to the land than you take’.

Raised on a vineyard in Coomealla, NSW, John learnt to grow premium grapes from his father Ivan, whose ancestry came from vineyards on the Dalmatian Adriatic Coast. John’s eldest sons Randal and Damian were in turn passed the knowledge and skills from their father and grandfathers and were raised with their hands firmly in the soil.

During the time Randal was developing the vineyard, using his newly invented and acclaimed soil amelioration equipment and technology – the “Vibrosoiler”, John completed a post graduate diploma in winemaking at the University of Adelaide and is currently undertaking the challenging studies to become a Master of Wine.
