The vineyard has been carefully designed, protective of the ‘old river red gums’ and maintaining biodiversity within the vineyard. The vineyard was planted to 27 individual blocks of their own varietals matching site selection, clones and ”terroir”. The plantings were selected from the best vineyards in the district, all ideal to the cool climate region of the Adelaide Hills that promotes long, slow ripening of the fruit. Many newer varietal clones were selected including French Chardonnay “Bernard 76, 95 & 96” and Pinot Noir clones 114, 115, 777 as well as MV5, D2V5, G8V7. Each block is matched to a varietal that allows true expression of the “terroir” for the production of wines that truly display the characteristic intense, pure fruit flavours that are both delicate and yet complex and reflective of the region. The vineyard was planted to Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. |
